In 1984, he was caught within the framework of Operation Fathers initiated by MIT and was found guilty of 11 different crimes and imprisoned in Mamak Prison. Kılıç’s daughter Uğur Kılıç was killed in 1995 by the men of Alaattin Çakıcı, who is her husband and is known as a famous mafia boss. After this incident, the expected conflict between Kılıç and Çakıcı did not happen; Although the reason for this situation could not be determined by the authorities, the result was not disturbing for anyone. Kılıç, who covered the educational expenses of over 10,000 students, was seen as a generous philanthropist.

He died on August 10, 1999, while being treated in his room at the American Hospital, due to problems in his upper respiratory tract. The life of Dündar Kılıç, the father-in-law of the famous bully Alaattin Çakıcı, was published in a book by his nephew Mustafa Dündar Kılıç in 2006.
